WHAT IS JEWISH FAMILY SERVICES?  

In 1990, Jennifer Mann and Gila Pomerantz founded and implemented Jewish Family Services(JFS), offering services primarily to senior citizens. IN 2015, a very generous endowment was received from Gae Werfel, allowing for more programs and enhancing our services.

Jewish Family Services Mission Statement: 

To provide education, social services, and support for the Central Valley Jewish community regardless of age, income or synagogue affiliation; and to strengthen Jewish identity, build community, and fortify family life.

OUR SERVICES:  

**Information and referral resources.  

**Senior outreach : assisting seniors to identify needs and resources. 

**Friendly Visitor: Regular visits to an individual who is home-bound, to reduce isolation.

**Bikur Cholim: Visiting the sick.

**Food cards: $50 card to SaveMart, FoodMax for those in need.

**Financial help through grants and/or (zero interest) loans.

**Transportation needs.

**Accompany to doctor appointments.

**Telephone assurance and well-being calls.

**Home visits.

**Clients receive JFS bags full of goodies for Purim, Rosh Hashanah, Hannukah, and Passover.

**TOOLS FOR LIFE - Gae's Senior Exercise Classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and occasional speakers.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:  

Be a friendly visitor, help with transportation needs, Bikur Cholim, calling connection, delivering holiday bags, schlepping needs, yard work, donate medical/legal services, and many more opportunities.
